Introducing rFOX

rFOX

rFOX is a term used to describe the benefits and rewards you receive when you stake your FOX tokens on Arbitrum. By staking your FOX, you can earn regular RUNE payouts from the DAO’s treasury, providing a steady stream of passive income. This feature not only rewards you but also supports the ShapeShift DAO’s alignment with the THORChain ecosystem, contributing to their growth and success.

Why Stake Your FOX?

  1. Earn RUNE Rewards: Staking your FOX allows you to earn RUNE payouts per epoch, providing a reliable source of passive income.
  2. Support Ecosystem: A portion of the RUNE received by the DAO is used to buy FOX from the open market and burn it, reducing the overall supply and supporting the ecosystem.
  3. Community Stability: The staking process requires a minimum 28-day unstaking period, encouraging commitment and stability within the community.

Let’s Begin:

Note: Staking will lock your FOX tokens. This means they will be held in the staking contract and cannot be transferred, traded, or used until the specified unstaking period has elapsed. Please ensure you understand this process before proceeding.

You MUST have arbFOX, FOX on Arbitrum to continue.

Step 0: Ensure You Have ETH on Arbitrum

If you do not have ETH on Arbitrum, you will need it for gas fees. You can easily trade for ETH using the ShapeShift trade widget. Make sure you have enough ETH to cover the transaction costs for a smooth staking experience.

ETH on Arbitrum

Step 1: Bridge Your FOX to Arbitrum

Bridge FOX

Warning: Use the bridge function built into the rFOX page to ensure a 1:1 redemption of your FOX tokens on the Arbitrum chain. If you use a swapper, you may experience slippage and possible loss of FOX tokens. This bridge function guarantees that you get the exact amount of FOX on Arbitrum, protecting your investment. Beginners, please follow this step carefully to avoid unnecessary risks and ensure a smooth transition.

Step 2: Stake Your arbFOX

Navigate to the rFOX tab. Now that you have arbFOX, you can continue and stake.

Unstaking Process

When you decide to unstake your FOX, there is a minimum 28-day unstaking period. During this time, your FOX remains locked, and you cease to receive RUNE emissions. After the cooldown period, you can unlock and retrieve your FOX tokens.

Key Details

  • Cooldown Period: The cooldown period for unstaking FOX tokens is 28 days. During this time, your tokens remain locked and cannot be transferred.
  • Multiple Unstaking Amounts: You can have multiple unstaking amounts, each with its own 28-day cooldown period.

Understanding the Economics

  • Fees and Rewards: The DAO collects fees in native RUNE, a portion of which is distributed to FOX stakers as rewards, and another portion is used to buy and burn FOX from the open market, reducing the overall FOX supply.
  • Influence on Rewards: The total FOX staked influences the distribution of RUNE rewards, as rewards are distributed pro-rata based on the amount of FOX staked.
  • Emissions Pool and Burn: The emissions pool represents the amount of FOX available for staking rewards, while the FOX burn amount is the portion of FOX purchased and burned using the RUNE collected from fees.
